Fayetteville Man Charged with Sex Crimes Involving Children
The former FSU administrator's home was a hub for distribution.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have charged a Fayetteville man with multiple sex crimes after discovering child pornography.
Edwin Lamont Ware, 49, of 2724 Rivercliff Road was arrested today.

On November 6, 2012 a search warrant was executed on Ware’s home, following an undercover investigation, identifying his home as the source of distribution of child pornography.
Detectives located dozens of videos showing children as young as eight years old, engaging in sexual activity with men according to Debbie Tanna, Public Informations Officer.

Jeffrey Womble, a spokesman for FSU, said Ware had been employed at the university as the interim assistant director of residence life and as a student services specialist before he resigned, according to a Fayetteville Observer report.
Ware is charged with five counts second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center for $125,000 bond. Ware is scheduled to make a first court appearance on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Detention Center courtroom.
