Fort Bragg Garrison Command Sergeant Major Yolanda Tate will be the guest speaker whose message will focus on equal treatment of women and women’s rights.

“Today, women’s equality has grown to mean much more than just sharing the right to vote,” said Sgt. 1st Class Lisa Martin, event coordinator and equal opportunity advisor from the 20th Engineer Brigade. “It means ensuring that women across the globe are provided with equal opportunities.”

Congress designated Aug. 26 as Women’s Equality Day and this day was selected to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

“We’re hoping those who attend will reflect on the honor and contributions women have made during their struggle for equality,” said Martin.
