Furlough Days Identified for Fort Bragg Schools

The Secretary of Defense approved the furlough for up to five days.

 

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The Fort Bragg District Department of Defense Education Activity-Domestic Dependent Elementary Secondary Schools Superintendent Dr. Emily Marsh notified parents May 23 that furlough days have been identified for Fort Bragg Schools, should the furlough be enacted.

“The Secretary of Defense approved for our teachers and some school level support staff to be furloughed for up to five days,” said Marsh. “For Fort Bragg Schools, these furlough days would be Aug. 30, Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27.”

Schools will be closed for students on these five days if the furlough is enacted and no Wednesday early release time for students during the furlough period, said Marsh. 

In addition to the letter that was sent home to parents regarding the furlough days for Fort Bragg Schools, Marsh said this information will also be posted on their website at: http://www.am.dodea.edu/bragg

“Your continued support is appreciated during this time,” said Marsh. “The outstanding educators, administrators, and support staff of Fort Bragg Schools remain committed to providing our students a quality educational experience, and supporting our military families.”

Fort Bragg Schools will begin for students Aug. 26, said Marsh, and all schools will hold open house activities and orientation for prekindergarten and kindergarten students.
