Fayetteville, NC Police Department Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a train derailment on Russell Street between Old Wilmington Road and Dick Street.
The cars that derailed are still in the upright position and are not loaded with any hazardous materials.
CSX has been notified and have dispatched crews and equipment from Carthage, NC. Once the personnel from CSX arrive on scene, they anticipate to have the cars back on track within an hour.
Motorists needing to access cross streets in the affected area are encouraged to utilize an alternate route until the scene is cleared.
