My couch has become my catch-all piece of furniture
In my house, the couch has become the do-it-all piece of furniture. It's a comfy place to read. It's where I watch TV. What about you?

In my house, the couch has become the do-it-all piece of furniture. It’s a comfy place to read. It’s where I watch TV. Sometimes it’s the perfect napping spot. And more and more often, it’s becoming my dining room chair. Like many people, when I get home from work, I’m tired and I’m not looking to keep working at home. So, the couch has become my refuge for all things.
According to a new survey, most people spend an hour or more a day on their couch. That doesn’t really surprise me because that’s pretty much my life. It’s home, then make dinner, then eat dinner on the couch while watching something on the TV. Netflix and chill in the most literal sense of the phrase -- I chill on my couch and watch Netflix. What an existence.
Let me just say: I love my couch. It’s cozy, it’s comfortable, and my dog loves it too. One of my fears is what to do when it wears out. Do I try to find something similar? Do I go with something new? Or maybe I just recover it and home for the best. I saw that recovering can be pricey, but not out of this world expensive. It also made me laugh that someone made that tool. But hey, it’s useful!

But back to the survey. When it came to the results, I yet again felt very much in good company. The most common use for a sofa was watching TV or a movie. Check. Then, over 75% of people said they prefer their sofa for watching TV or a movie compared to any other piece of furniture. Also check. Sometimes I enjoy watching something in bed, but more often than not, I’ll lay down or put my feet up while on the couch. I find it more relaxing and it doesn’t feel like I’m going to bed. Also, my dog enjoys it more when I’m in the living room than the bedroom, so there’s that too. As we know, my little guy is generally my pride and joy.
So, does this sound like you? Am I alone in coming home from work and basically sitting on the couch for the evening? Yeah sure, maybe you don’t do it every night, and neither do I. But, the couch has become my catch-all piece of furniture. It fills so many roles and it will be a dark day if I ever have to replace it.
