FORT BRAGG, N.C. - U.S. Small Business Administrator Karen Mills will announce a new nationwide lending initiative for veterans at Fort Bragg, May 21 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Hall in the Soldier Support Center.

Mills will be joined by representatives of the SBA lending community from across the country, Department of Defense officials and transitioning service members who have chosen to participle in SBA’s Operation Boots to Business (B2B) program.  The Operation Boots to Business program is an initiative to train veterans and transitioning service members in business entrepreneurship.

Karen Mills said approximately 250,000 veterans transition from military service to civilian life each year, where some become small business owners, playing an important role in growing the economy and creating jobs.

Recognizing how veteran entrepreneurs continue to serve their country, last year SBA launched the B2B program. To further complement training and development under this program, SBA is launching a new private lender commitment to ensure adequate capital is available for veteran small business entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses.
