North Carolina Woman Met Man On ‘Farmers Only,’ Killed Him: Cops

A North Carolina woman is charged in the 2015 murder of a man two months after she met him on the FarmersOnly.com dating site.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — A North Carolina woman turned herself into police earlier this week and was charged in the 2015 murder of a man she met on the “Farmers Only” dating site. Sheri Williams Jones, 57, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Clarence Smith, 61. She initially claimed she shot him in self-defense authorities said.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office did not say in the news release why it took three years to charge Jones in Smith’s death. Deputies answering a 911 call found Smith lying motionless in the front yard of Jones’ home in Fayetteville on June 10, 2015.

At the time, Jones told authorities their relationship had soured and she had asked him to come to her house to pick up his belongings. She told authorities she shot him, the news release said, but said it was in self-defense.
