Poll: Should All Undocumented Aliens Be Allowed to Seek Driver’s Licenses?
Gov. Jerry Brown signed bill giving license eligibility to young drivers, but what about their elders?
Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed Assembly Bill 2189, which could let as many as 350,000 undocumented immigrants under 30 get California driver’s licenses—if they came with their parents to America before 16 and apply for work permits under the federal program that spares them deportation. Brown spokesman Gil Duran told the Los Angeles Times: “Gov. Brown believes the federal government should pursue comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship. President Obama has recognized the unique status of these students, and making them eligible to apply for driver’s licenses is an obvious next step.'' Should the next step after this be driver's licenses for all undocumented aliens?
