Special Operations Forces K-9 Memorial To Be Unveiled Saturday

Dogs have always been hailed as man's best friend and the jobs that canines provide for our military are invaluable.
Saturday morning, July 27 at 10a.m. the unveiling of the memorial will take place downtown at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum.
Since 9/11 many of these service dogs have been killed in combat alongside their handler.

The idea was birthed some years ago by Army Sgt. Maj. Chuck Yerry as a way to honor the dogs.
Besides the memorial's paver stones that are dedicated to the fallen canines, the memorial boasts a life-sized Belgian Malinois wearing combat gear.

According to a Fayetteville News report, each special operations dog killed, retired Army Sgt. Chris Moyer said at least eight to 10 men are alive thanks to their sacrifice.
This monument is the first of its kind.
Following the ceremony, Huske Hardware House is sponsoring an epic parking lot concert fundraiser with the band Madison Rising. Tickets for the concert are $10.
