State Attorney General to Educate Fort Bragg Servicemembers, Spouses on Consumer Fraud

Next week North Carolina’s Attorney General, Roy Cooper, will host a Scam Jam event to speak with Fort Bragg service members and spouses Sept. 24 about ways to avoid becoming a victim of consumer fraud.
Cooper, along with experts from the state’s Consumer Protection Division, will offer tips on how military consumers can avoid common scams and protect themselves from unscrupulous businesses. The Scam Jam will focus on identity theft, credit and lending, and automobiles, areas which generate many questions and complaints.
The event will be held at the Family Readiness Group Center on Hurst Drive, beginning at 10:30 a.m., and is open to the Fort Bragg community.
This event is part of a series of visits to military installations in North Carolina. In May, Cooper made a similar visit to Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville and in July, paid a similar visit to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.
