On May 9, 2013 at approximately 2:00 am, an 84 year old citizen in our community had just returned home from playing bingo at Bonanza Bingo. The victim parked her vehicle in her garage and as she was opening her door, was accosted by an unknown black male subject who was armed with a handgun. The suspect then proceeded to strike the victim in the back of the head with the weapon and then pulled her from the vehicle. The elderly victim tried to hold onto the clothing of the suspect, but was forced to fall onto the concrete floor. The victim noticed that a second black male suspect was at the rear of her vehicle while the original suspect went into her vehicle and stole her purse. The suspects then fled from the victim’s residence to an awaiting vehicle. Once the victim knew that the suspects had fled, she mustered enough strength to go to a neighboring home and call 911 for assistance. As a result of the injuries sustained by the victim, she had to be transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for medical assistance.
