FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The XVIII Airborne Corps will host an assumption of command ceremony for Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg commanding general, at 9:30 a.m., July 2 the the Main Post Parade Field.
Anderson comes to Fort Bragg from Fort Carson, where he served as the commanding general for 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson.
The assumption of command ceremony is a time-honored military tradition, a formal, symbolic passing of responsibility, authority and accountability of command, and an opportunity for the Fort Bragg community to welcome its new commanding general.

General Anderson is no stranger to Fort Bragg and served as a Battalion Commander in the 82nd Airborne Division where his troops were deployed to Haiti in 1998 and Kosovo.
Known by his former paratroopers and peers as 'Smokin Joe Anderson', not many young soldiers could match his run times and really enjoyed the example he set in p.t. by running with them.
