Greensboro Fire Department’s annual fire hydrant testing begins April 1. All City hydrants will be tested to ensure they are operable and able to produce the required water pressure when needed.

Because testing must be done during normal operating hours, it will be impossible to know in advance specifically where or when testing will take place.

Opening hydrants sometimes causes a temporary discoloration of water in nearby homes. The discoloration is not harmful and can be cleared up by running the water for a few minutes.
