Forsyth County Special Olympics Awarded $8,000 Donation

The Winston-Salem Police Department, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Academy Sports + Outdoors awarded the Forsyth County Special Olympics with an $8,000 donation for their annual Shop with a Cop Event where 26 of their athletes went on a $300 shopping adventure at Academy Sports + Outdoors while accompanied by their local police officers. The Forsyth County Special Olympics were awarded with the large check on Thursday, December 12 followed by their shopping trip.

All proceeds were raised during a fundraising luncheon held in November at the Winston-Salem Carrabba’s Italian Grill in partnership with the Winston Salem Police Department, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Academy Sports + Outdoors where the community was invited to dine and donate to the Shop with a Cop event. The Special Olympics Forsyth County is a local program based out of Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks and serves nearly 1,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
