Greensboro’s 4th Of July Fireworks 2020 Canceled

Greensboro's Fourth of July events may be canceled, but city officials are looking for a place for a socially-distanced fireworks display.

GREENSBORO, NC – July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including Greensboro. The Fun Fourth Festival has been canceled. It was scheduled to be held on July 3 and 4.

“The Fun Fourth Festival events draw thousands of participants each year and take months to plan. Given our uncertainty for what the summer months hold with regards to this pandemic, we have made this heartbreaking decision to cancel for 2020,” said Zack Matheny, President and CEO of Downtown Greensboro, Inc. (DGI), the event organizer, in a statement. “While I’m incredibly disappointed to not hold this annual summer tradition in our center city this year, I completely understand the need to be extra cautious for the sake of our community.”

City officials are looking for a fireworks display location that would allow for social distancing.
