Mecklenburg Foreclosures See Year-Over-Year Decrease: Report

Foreclosure filings in Mecklenburg County for February 2018 decreased when compared to the previous year.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Foreclosure activity in Mecklenburg County for February 2018 saw a 7 percent year-over-year decrease from February 2017 but saw a nearly 4 percent increase from January 2018, according to ATTOM data.

According to ATTOM, there were 285 foreclosure filings in Mecklenburg county in February 2018. Based on census bureau estimates, there are 419,325 housing units in Mecklenburg County, so one in every 1,471 properties in Mecklenburg had a foreclosure filing.

Foreclosure activity had an overall year-over-year decrease in the U.S. for Feb. 2018, reaching an all-time low for as far back as ATTOM has data available, which dates back to April 2005. New Jersey overall had a year-over-year decrease in foreclosure filings.

However, North Carolina is ranked 12th in the nation for its foreclosure rate, according to ATTOM. In February 2018, there were 2,428 foreclosure filings in the state or one in every 1,834 properties had a foreclosure filing.
