Recent kitchen inspections in Mooresville found old food, things in need of cleaning and a jar of Vick's VapoRub where it shouldn't be.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Recent health inspections at 16 Mooresville area restaurant kitchens found numerous violations, from out-of-date food to a jar of ointment sitting above a food prep cooler.

All recently inspected restaurants in Mooresville kept their "A" health rating, however multiple violations were found.

A Feb. 21 inspection at Amaravati documented 10 violations, for example, found pans of raw chicken, goat and fish stored above ready-to-eat foods in a walk-in cooler, heavy cream found stored warm to the touch, black residue and debris behind a sink and bags of clean linen stored on the floor of a back hallway. The inspector also spotted a jar of Vick’s VapoRub on a shelf above the prep cooler.
At Showmars, a Feb. 21 inspection found 10 violations that included a bottle of spray sanitizer stored on a prep table above small bowls, a large container of macaroni and cheese that was out of date, areas of the kitchen in need of cleaning and sour cream and lettuce held at improper temperatures that had to be discarded.
