Flood Advisory Issued In Iredell County: Here's Where
More rain is on the way for the region, with storms that could potentially include large hail and damaging winds, forecasters said Friday.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for west central Iredell County Friday morning following rising levels at Lookout Shoals Dam west of Statesville.
Flooding was expected at Lookout Shoals Lake, NWS said. The advisory will remain in effect until 2:45 p.m.
"At 8:50 a.m. the gauge at Lookout Shoals Dam has risen to a level of 102. The level is expected to crest at 102.5. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in Lookout Shoals Lake," NWS said in the advisory. "At 102, nuisance flooding of low-lying areas including residential yards, docks, and boat-launch areas is ongoing."

Residents in the area were advised to take immediate actions to protect property adjacent to the lake and monitor messaging from Catawba County Emergency Management.
More scattered thunderstorms with the potential for torrential rainfall and cloud-to-ground lightning are expected throughout the region Friday, NWS warned in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Friday.

"A few storms could briefly become severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts," it said.
Rainy conditions are expected to continue throughout the weekend.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then a chance of showers between 1am and 3am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a slight chance of showers between 10pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
