MOORESVILLE, NC — Get your hat and gloves ready because there will be snow throughout North Carolina, including likely Mooresville, by the weekend, according to forecasters.

Conditions throughout the metro region Wednesday were dry and in the high 40s, however wet weather is expected to move into southwest North Carolina Thursday evening. Snow will fall throughout the mountains during the day Friday, with snow and rain expected across the Piedmont.

"A strong low pressure system will cross the area Thursday through Friday. Chilly temperatures across the region could support wintry precipitation as far south as the Interstate 85 corridor," the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Wednesday. "Uncertainty is high with this system, but there is the potential for some impact from wintry weather on Thursday night and Friday."

The weather system will create travel hazards, according to North Carolina Emergency Management.

"Hazardous travel is possible, especially Thursday night and through the day Friday across the mountains and northern and western portions of the Piedmont," NCEM said.
