Iredell County Woman Scores $100,000 Powerball Lottery Win
Tamathea Bustle of Statesville won the $100,000 prize by picking her own numbers, according to North Carolina Education Lottery.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A Statesville woman became $100,000 richer last week after picking winning Powerball numbers, North Carolina Education Lottery said Monday.
Tamathea Bustle of Statesville won the $100,000 prize during the May 19 drawing. She bought the $3 winning Power play ticket at Kangaroo Express on Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.
“I was excited when I found out,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

She picked four winning white balls for a $50,000 prize, which then doubled when the 2X multiplier was drawn, NCEL said. According to lottery officials, the odds of matching four white balls and the Powerball in a drawing are one in 913,129.
“I was in shock, I thought I was looking at it wrong,” Bustle said, according to NCEL. “It didn’t seem real!”

On Friday, Bustle claimed her prize at NCEL headquarters in Raleigh. After paying taxes, she took home $70,751.
