Iredell Man Nabbed For String Of Thefts Caught On Camera: ICSO
Richard Todd Waugh is accused of taking a package off a porch and breaking into storage units and a Mooresville business, ICSO said.
MOORESVILLE, NC — A Statesville man was arrested and now faces charges related to a string of thefts in southern Iredell County after the crimes were caught on camera, Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Richard Todd Waugh, 48, of Statesville has been charged with three counts of felony larceny; three counts of felony breaking and entering; two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering; misdemeanor first degree trespass and felony obtaining property by false pretense for incidents that occurred earlier this month.
According to ICSO, the first theft was reported June 17, when a victim told the sheriff's office a package was stolen from their home on Covedale Court in Troutman. The victim told deputies video footage indicated the suspect who took the package was a white man driving a gold Pontiac.

In Mooresville, a similar break-in was reported at Rowboat Dock and Dredge, located on Williamson Road, where a large amount of tools were taken. The tools were later recovered at a pawn shop in Statesville.
And like in the earlier cases, surveillance footage indicated the same suspect — then identified as Waugh — was involved in the crime, ICSO said. Investigators obtained multiple felony warrants for his arrest.
On June 24, Waugh was found sleeping in a Pontiac Grand Prix in Mecklenburg County. He was arrested on the felony charges and will soon be brought back to Iredell County to stand trial, ICSO said.
