Students in Iredell-Statesville Schools return to classes Monday, Aug. 23. Here's a list of school supplies most needed.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — While summer feels like it's just getting started, school officials around the county are already looking ahead to the next school year beginning next month.
Students in Iredell-Statesville Schools return to classes Monday, Aug. 23, and with them comes the need for new school supplies.
"Iredell-Statesville Schools is looking for organizations and businesses, large and small, who are interested in holding a school supply drive," Boen Nutting, spokesperson for the school district, said Tuesday. "In partnership with the United Way of Iredell County, we will pick up school supply donations and make sure they are put into the hands of students who need them most."

Collected school supplies may also be dropped off at the school district headquarters, located at 410 Garfield Street in Statesville.

School supplies needed:
- Tissues
- Spiral 1-subject notebooks
- Crayons (12 or 24 count)
- Glue sticks
- Earbuds
- Lunch boxes
- #2 pencils
- Loose-leaf paper
- Colored pencils
- 1-inch, 1 ½-inch, 2-inch and 3-inch 3-ring binders
- Backpacks (no wheels)
- Ziplock bags (gallon and sandwich sizes)
- Highlighters
- Graph paper
- Pocket folders
- Index cards
- Kid-size Fiskars scissors
- Dry-erase markers
- Pens (red, blue, black)
- Pencil pouch/boxes
- Erasers
