Iredell Sheriff's Office Accepting Applications For Teen Academy
The Teen Academy program is free and aims to provide positive role models, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said. Here's how to apply.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — the Iredell County Sheriff's Office's Teen Academy mentorship program is accepting applications for classes set to begin in July, ICSO said Friday.
The program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Monticello Training Center, located at 435 Monticello Road in Statesville. The academy run from July 6 though July 22.
"Teenagers face many challenges such as the transitioning from Middle School to High School, peer pressure, social media, texting, bullying and drugs just to name a few," ICSO said. " We provide positive adult role models along with real life learning experiences to teach them alternative ways to deal with complex social issues. We mix practical hands on demonstrations with a teenager focused message in order to make learning fun. Along the way the students and deputies get to make friendships which foster lasting relationships as a result of the experience."
