Lowe's YMCA Fireworks Show Prompts Mooresville Road Closures

The annual July 3rd fireworks display is back this year in Mooresville. Here's what area drivers should know about road closures.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville's annual Independence Day fireworks display is back this year, and the pyrotechnic show in the sky will lead to some temporary road closures, the Town of Mooresville said Thursday.

Lowe's YMCA in Mooresville is hosting the July 3rd Summer Celebration and Field of Flags on Saturday at 170 Joe V. Knox Avenue in Mooresville. The event will feature country singer Rockie Lynne, a field of more than 600 American flags, food trucks and fireworks.

For the duration of the event, roads immediately surrounding the YMCA will be temporarily closed, the town said. Joe V. Knox Avenue, from Leaning Oak Drive to Plantation Ridge Drive, and from Leaning Oak Drive to Welton Way, will be closed from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Montibello Drive, from Hope Park to the YMCA parking lot will also be closed from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Here's a schedule for the July 3rd Summer Celebration and Field of Flags event:

  • 5 p.m. — Field of Flags ceremony
  • 6:15 p.m. — Rockie Lynne performance
  • 9:15 p.m. — Fireworks

"Guests are encouraged to arrive early to get a good view of the show!" say organizers. "For the safety of guests, grills, pets, sparklers and outside fireworks are not permitted."

Remote parking and shuttle bus service will be available from Trinity Baptist Church, located at 221 Ervin Road in Mooresville.
