Man Accused Of Shooting Into Vehicle Nabbed On Sex Charges: MPD

When Mooresville police went to search Deion Rashad Lloyd's home following the shooting, they found him with a 15-year-old girl.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A 25-year-old Mooresville man identified as the suspect behind a shooting last week now faces statutory rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor charges, Mooresville Police Department said Friday afternoon.

According to a police report, Deion Rashad Lloyd, 25, was identified as the suspect wanted in a June 15 shooting in the 400 block of East McLelland Avenue following an investigation of the scene and interviews with witnesses.

The charges against Lloyd grew, however, after investigators were granted a search warrant of his home.

"After being granted a search warrant for Lloyd’s residence, members of the Criminal Investigations Division and Special Response Team found Lloyd in the company of a 15- year-old girl," MPD said.

Lloyd was charged with statutory rape of a child, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. His secured bond was set at $250,000, MPD said.
