Mooresville Man Facing Kidnapping, Sexual Servitude Charges: ICSO

MOORESVILLE, NC — A Mooresville man faces a list of charges including kidnapping and sexual servitude after a woman told investigators she was held against her will and sexually assaulted repeatedly, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Akura Laquan Rickett, 40, of Mooresville was arrested April 27 and was charged with felony first-degree kidnapping; felony human trafficking; felony sexual servitude; six counts of felony assault by strangulation; three counts of felony sell or deliver a controlled substance; and felony habitual misdemeanor assault.

According to ICSO, the victim reported the alleged incident that occurred in eastern Iredell County in October.

The victim, "told the deputies she had been held against her will, then repeatedly sexually assaulted, given drugs, and physically assaulted at 106 JD Lane in eastern Iredell County," ICSO said.

The sheriff's office launched an investigation and executed a search warrant at the location, and seized several items of evidence that were consistent with information provided by the victim about the assaults, ICSO said.

Following his arrest Tuesday, Rickett was issued a secured bond of $500,000.
