Mooresville Town Board Calls Special Meeting: How To Watch
Mooresville Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting virtually Friday to discuss approving 42 new license plate cameras.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The Mooresville Board of Commissioners is holding a special meeting Friday to discuss numerous topics, including police funding, closing down unused streets and the consideration of installing 42 new license plate recognition cameras in town.
The meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 18.

- Consider a request from the Police Department to declare equipment (body-worn and in-car camera system recently replaced and removed from service) to be surplus and authorize the Purchasing Agent to convey this equipment to the Taylorsville Police Department, provided the equipment will continue to be used in carrying out a public purpose and/or procedure. - Consider adopting a Resolution of Intent to close Louise Avenue and portions of Carolyn Street and Annette Street, located off McNeely Avenue. (pages 6-8) Resolution of Intent_ROW Abandonment packet 12-18-2020
- Consider a request from the Police Department to apply for the third year funding from the North Carolina Governor's Highway Program (GHSP) in support of the Traffic Enforcement and Safety Team. The grant supports 50% of two (2) officer positions and a 50% cash match is required. Based on current information, total year 3 salary and benefits is estimated to be $174,932, and will save the Town approximately $87,466. The two positions must be retained for twelve (12) months effective October, 2022.
- Consider a request from the Police Department to accept with appreciation a donation of twenty (20) pairs of running shoes from the Charlotte Running Company valued at $2,500. (page 9) Police 12.18.20 Charlotte Running Company donation
- Consider granting a Utility Easement from the Town of Mooresville to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC in the southwest corner of the revised Lowrance Ave. and W. Wilson Ave. intersection. This easement will allow Duke Energy to relocate existing facilities in coordination with the West Wilson Improvements Project. (pages 10-12) Easement Town of Mooresville
- Consider approving a one-year contract not to exceed $123,500 with Flock Group inc for the installation and licensing of 42 LPR cameras and licensing for 15 existing intersection cameras through out the Town of Mooresville. - Consider authorizing the Town Manager to negotiate and sign Offers to Purchase and Contract for properties located at 541 S. Broad St. and 545 S. Broad St for a total purchase price for both parcels of $400,000, plus closing costs and fees. The Town Manager is authorized to conduct all due diligence for purchase of these properties and to sign all documents that may be necessary for closing.
