MPD Chase Of Vehicle Break-In Suspects Ends In Charlotte

The police pursuit began after Mooresville police spotted four suspects breaking into cars at an area hotel early Monday morning.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A 19-year-old Charlotte man and a juvenile male were nabbed by police in Charlotte Monday after Mooresville officers said they and two others were spotted breaking into vehicles at an area hotel.

According to a police account, the suspects fled the scene in two vehicles, which Mooresville police then pursued.

"Officers stopped one vehicle and arrested two individuals near Harris Boulevard in Charlotte," Mooresville Police Department said Monday.

One of the individuals arrested was a 17-year-old male from Cherryville, MPD said.

Bassim Daquan Davenport, 19, of Charlotte was charged with two counts of misdemeanor injury to personal property; three counts of felony breaking & entering of motor vehicle; two counts of felony assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill; and felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle.

Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues, MPD said.

Davenport was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was issued a $225,000 secured bond.
