New Year's Eve Weather In Mooresville: What To Expect

MOORESVILLE, NC — Perhaps after the year 2020 turned out to be, it will be no surprise that New Year's Eve is set to be a soggy washout, according to forecasts.

Rain is expected to move into the region Wednesday, and linger straight through until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Conditions are expected to be so poor in throughout the Piedmont of North Carolina, that NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Dec. 30, warning of the storm's impact.

"Heavy rainfall is expected across portions of the southern Appalachians Thursday night through Friday," NWS said. "Localized flooding of streams and poor drainage areas is possible, as is minor flooding of main stem rivers."

A chance of showers between 11am and 4pm, then a chance of rain after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 42. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight
A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 3am. Patchy fog after 8pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 39. Calm wind. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday (Dec. 31)
A 50 percent chance of showers. Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 58. Calm wind. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Showers. Low around 51. Calm wind becoming east northeast 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
New Year's Day (Jan. 1)
Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. High near 60. East northeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
