Mail-In Ballots
Voters who intend to vote by mail and need to register must do so by Friday, October 9, ICBE said.

If you miss the Oct. 9 deadline, there is still opportunity to register at the one-stop early voting later in the month.

The last day the board of elections may send out a ballot by mail is Oct. 27.

Interest in mail-in voting has skyrocketed, according to one North Carolina political scientist. "NC is very, very close to having 600K absentee by mail ballot requests processed," Michael Bitzer, associate professor of politics and history at Catawba College, said Wednesday, via Twitter. "A 16X increase in requests from same day in 2016."
