Showers, Thunderstorms Ahead: Mooresville Weekend Forecast

The next few days will be soggy for much of North Carolina. Here's when you can expect to see rain in Mooresville.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Storms moving into Iredell County Thursday evening could produce sharp lightning and heavy downpours, the National Weather Service warned Thursday morning.

According to the forecast, rain is expected every day in the region through early next week.

"Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be in store through tonight, especially this afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Thursday. "Cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy downpours are expected in storms that do develop. Localized flooding will be possible in areas that receive rain over an extended period of time."

On Thursday, which marked the climatological peak of this year's hurricane season, Tropical Storms Paulette and Rene brewed off the coast.

"Guidance continues to favor a track east of the United States as Paulette is expected to turn more northward and eventually northeastward near Bermuda next week," NC Emergency Management said Thursday morning.
