Town of Mooresville Expands 2021 Summer Internship Program

Lauren Coffey, Ciara Knox and Laron Locklear are participating in the Town of Mooresville's summer internship program, the town announced.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville's summer internship program is growing. College students Lauren Coffey, Ciara Knox and Laron Locklear have joined the Town of Mooresville's summer internship program to gain career experience, the town announced Tuesday.

"Each of our interns, who were selected after an application and interview process, collaborates closely with Town staff on in-house projects, gaining valuable experience that each of them can tulize in their future career path," the town said in a statement.

Last month, the town announced that Martin Blue, Jahzmine Ranglin, and Jayla Gittens would also be participating in the internship program.

Coffey is a student at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she is pursuing a degree in public policy with a concentration on global health. "During her time with the Town, she is assisting the Planning and Community Development department with their Safe Routes to School program and additional research," the town said.

Knox attends North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she is studying criminal justice. She is interning at Mooresville Police Department. "While working at the department, her focus will include training and recruitment," the town said.

Locklear attends North Carolina State University, where he is studying environmental technology and management, and will be interning with the utilities department. "He's working with staff at the Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment facilities, learning more about the essential lab work performed at each site and participating in the industrial pre-treatment survey process," the town said.
