Tropical Storm Eta: Hazardous Weather Headed To Mooresville
Widespread showers from Tropical Storm Eta were headed towards Iredell County Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Heavy rain storms headed to Mooresville, along with much of the greater Charlotte metro region, will likely dump up to about 3 inches of rain by Friday, the National Weather Service said Tuesday. The storms are the result of a slow moving cold front and moisture from Tropical Storm Eta.
"A deep fetch of tropical Atlantic moisture will arrive across the region this evening," NWS warned in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Tuesday. "Showers will become widespread overnight with embedded isolated to scattered thunderstorms that may result in locally heavily rainfall and a few cloud-to-ground lightning strikes."
Areas along the Blue Ridge Escarpment will likely see the heaviest rain through daybreak on Wednesday," NWS said.

On Thursday, the rain will create a risk for isolated flash flooding in the Charlotte metro region, forecasters said.
"Through Thursday, a pool of tropical moisture along a cold front may support heavy rainfall with isolated flash flooding of low lying areas including near streams and urban areas," NWS said. "The greatest threat for flooding is focused from the eastern slopes of the southern Appalachians eastward along and north of the I-85 corridor."

The stretch of soggy weather may not be all the region sees from Eta. The remnants of the storm currently brewing in the Gulf may create a second round of tropical moisture that prompts heavy rain over the weekend.
