Valentine's Day: The Date Night Movie That NC Obsesses Over

Some states like romantic movies than others, but every state has a favorite. Here's North Carolina's cinematic obsession.

NORTH CAROLINA — Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If Cupid’s arrow pierced your heart this season, remember candles and chocolate aren’t enough — you’ll need the perfect movie to set the mood. So why not go with “Dirty Dancing,” the film most-obsessed over in North Carolina.

That’s according to the folks at Streaming Observer, who teamed up with the analysts at Mindnet Analytics to scour Google Trends data and come up with the romantic movie obsessed over most by each state.

Overall, Americans can’t get enough of James Cameron’s blockbuster “Titanic,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. In the film — as if you haven’t seen it 100 times already — a 17-year-old aristocrat falls for a struggling artist aboard the R.M.S. Titanic. And, well, you know how the story ends. Suffice to say it made the line “Iceberg ahead” a household phrase.

Other favorites include “Her,” “Ghost,” “It Happened One Night,” “Sense and Sensibility,” and “The African Queen.” Each of those films was the top searched for movie in multiple states.
