The region will be on alert for possible sleet, snow and ice when the Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Wednesday evening.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Iredell County could soon see wintry weather and slippery road conditions due to possible sleet, snow and ice, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm watch goes into effect Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., through Thursday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in western and piedmont North Carolina, as well as portions of the South Carolina Upstate.

A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant amounts of sleet, snow or ice, NWS said.
