17-Year-Old Slain In South Charlotte Motel Shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have launched a homicide investigation following an overnight shooting at a south Charlotte motel that left a 17-year-old dead.
Officers responded to Presbyterian Hospital shortly after midnight Oct. 10 after hospital staff called police to report that a male victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The victim, who was identified as 17-year-old Daquayaon Lavar Brown, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report.

Witnesses who arrived at the hospital with Brown told officers he was shot at the Motel 6, located at 4416 S. Tryon Street.
Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident and ask that anyone with information about the incident call 704-432-TIPS, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
