Arrest Made In Shooting That Left Woman Dead, Another Injured

Charlotte police have charged James Jawann Ratliff, 22, with the murder of Tayzhah Bush, who was found shot to death Sunday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have charged a man with murder following a double shooting early Sunday morning that left two women shot— one fatally-- in an apartment near Southside Park in Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police received a 911 call for help reporting an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after midnight Aug. 26. Officers responded to the apartment in the 500 block of Fairwood Avenue and found two women with gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to an area hospital for treatmen. The other victim, who has been identified by CMPD as Tayzhah Bush, was pronounced dead at the scene.

James Ratliff, 22, was located at the scene and was also treated at an area hospital, police said. After he left the hospital, he voluntarily spoke with police at headquarters and was later placed under arrest.

Ratliff was charged with first degree murder.
