Body Found In Lake Confirmed As Missing Charlotte Woman: CMPD
A boater on Lake Wylie discovered a body Sunday. Police have confirmed the victim as Vatsla Watkins, who was reported missing March 19.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The body discovered by a boater on Lake Wylie Sunday evening has been confirmed to be that of Vatsla Watkins, a 39-year-old Charlotte woman who was reported missing March 19, Charlotte police said Wednesday evening.
CMPD launched a death investigation in south Charlotte earlier this week after the boater discovered the body floating near Buster Boyd Bridge.
“The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer. Subsequent investigation revealed that the victim was Vatsla Watkins,” CMPD said in an April 3 statement.

No foul play is suspected, police said.
The area of the lake is where authorities previously searched for a missing Charlotte woman who hasn't been seen or heard from by her family since she left the family home two weeks ago, however police have not yet confirmed the identity, WBTV reported.

Watkins left her home March 18 in a silver 2004 four-door Mercedes-Benz C230, with a Carolina Panthers North Carolina license tag 8215CP, CMPD said at the time of her disappearance.

Days later, Watkins' car was located at Pier 49 at Lake Wylie, prompting a police search of the lake March 22.
She is described as 5-foot, 4-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black lightweight jacket and blue jeans.
