Christmas and New Year's Day are almost upon us. Here's the complete rundown of closings in the Charlotte area.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Christmas Day and New Years Day is considered a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break for the holiday.
Charlotte City and Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed for Christmas Day and the day after, on Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26, as well as Monday, Jan. 1.

U.S. Post Office: Closed Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1.
State Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 -Wednesday, Dec. 27, and Monday, Jan. 1.

North Carolina Court System: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 -Wednesday, Dec. 27, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Mecklenburg County Court System: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 -Wednesday, Dec. 27, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Charlotte City Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Libraries: All Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches will close early at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23. All branches will be closed all day from Sunday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Dec. 26. Libraries will be open Wednesday, Dec. 27.
All branches are closed Monday, Jan. 1 - Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Mecklenburg County Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices.
Department of Social Services: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
Tax Office: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Elections Office: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Register of Deeds Office: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Land Use and Environmental Services Agency: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Health Department: Closed Monday, Dec. 25 & Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
Trash and Recycling: All Solid Waste facilities will be closed on Saturday, Dec.23 and Monday, Dec. 25. All Solid Waste facilities will reopen for regular hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.). All Solid Waste facilities will be closed on Monday, Jan.1, 2018.

Nature Centers: Closed on Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25. They will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and New Year’s Day.
Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center: will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and will operate holiday hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Dec. 26. It will be open regular hours on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 and close on New Year’s Day.
CharMeck 311: open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
