CMPD Nabs 40 In Overnight DWI Checkpoint

A safety checkpoint in near Myers Park Wednesday night led to 40 charges, from no operators license to DWI.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police aiming to crack down on drivers under the influence set up a safety checkpoint in south Charlotte near Myers Park Wednesday night, netting 40 violations ranging from registration violations and driving with a revoked license to driving while intoxicated.

Officers from 10 divisions in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Mecklenburg ABC agency manned the Aug. 22 checkpoint set up in the 2100 block of Runnymede Lane in south Charlotte, from 9 p.m. to midnight.

One individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant, CMPD said.
