Home Furnishings Store To Open In Atherton Mill: Report

West Elm will become the anchor retail tenant of Atherton Mill, the new South End mixed-use development, says media report.

CHARLOTTE, NC — West Elm, a high-end retailer of home goods and decor, plans to open a second Charlotte-area store in Atherton Mill, a mixed-use development in the city's South End, according to a media report. The 15,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open in September, the Charlotte Observer reported.

The new West Elm will serve as the anchor retail tenant of Atherton Mill, according to the Observer. The company operates another store on Metropolitan Avenue.

Edens, the South Carolina company that is developing Atherton Mill, says the project will offer more than 115,000 square feet of retail and an expansion of the Charlotte Rail Trail multi-use path, including a public gathering space.

Edens also is working with Crescent Communities. a Charlotte-based residential developer, to build more than 300 high-end apartments in Atherton Mill, the Observer reported.
