Police ID Suspect Wanted In Sexual Assault, Robbery

Robert Anthony Thomas Jr. is wanted in connection to a sexual assault and robbery of a 25-year-old woman last week, police said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Less than one week after a 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted as she walked on W. Morehead Street, Charlotte police say they have identified her attacker and are asking for the community’s help locating him.

The Nov. 1 attack occurred around 3 a.m., when the woman was approached by a man as she was walking. He approached her and sexually assaulted her, she told police.
The suspect also fled with her cell phone.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the suspect wanted for the attack is 19-year-old Robert Anthony Thomas, Jr. CMPD has warrants for his arrest on the charges of first degree rape, kidnapping, robbery and possession of stolen property.

CMPD asks that anyone with information on Thomas’ location immediately call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or 911.
