Police Target High-Injury Accident Areas, Ticket 58 Speeders

Police targeted areas known for high numbers of fatalities and injuries in a three-hour traffic operation. Here's what they found.

CHARLOTTE, NC — When it comes to areas of Charlotte notorious for traffic crashes with lots of fatalities and injuries, two intersections stand out, say Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department: Billy Graham Parkway at Morris Field Drive and Billy Graham Parkway at Tyvola Road.

In an effort to combat that, CMPD conducted two traffic operations Feb 13, looking for all types of traffic violations.

The operation ran from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., then again from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. and officers made 74 traffic stops as a result, CMPD said, adding that nearly 100 violations were found.
