‘In A Rage’: Woman Threatens To ‘Shoot Up’ Cook-Out
Employees at a south Charlotte Cook-Out made a frantic call to 911 Friday morning when a woman threaten to "shoot up" the restaurant.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman “in a rage” and armed with a gun when she threatened employees at a south Charlotte Cook-Out restaurant early Friday morning has been taken into custody, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The incident at the fast food restaurant located at 13317 York Center Drive was reported by employees who made a 911 call, who told police that the woman had possibly fired the gun while she was outside the business.
Shots were fired when responding CMPD officers located the woman at the intersection of South Tryon Street and Westinghouse Boulevard, however she attempted to run away on foot.

“During the foot pursuit, the suspect fired a handgun at least two times,” a CMPD report said.

Mikayla Avent, 20, was taken into custody about two blocks away, near the intersection of South Tryon Street and Sandy Porter Road. Neither Avent or responding officers were injured in the incident, CMPD said.
Avent was charged with assault by pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resist/delay/obstruct a public officer, discharging firearm in city limits, and assault with a deadly weapon on government official.
