Vigil For 17-Year-Old Killed At East Charlotte QT Draws Hundreds

A vigil in Dilworth for a Charlotte teen slain at an east Charlotte convenience store drew hundreds Wednesday night.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Hundreds of friends and family members gathered Wednesday evening in Dilworth for a vigil honoring 17-year-old Daquan Shannon, who was shot and killed at a QT convenience store in east Charlotte in the early morning hours Sunday.

The mourners held candles and star-shaped helium balloons as they filled the football field at Sedgefield Middle School, where Shannon once attended, Fox46 reported.

“This is the first place I thought we could do his candlelight vigil because he played sports and football was his first love,” said Mario Black, Shannon’s cousin.
