Arson Blamed On Overnight Fire At Apartment Complex: CFD

The fire in an apartment complex clubhouse off Albemarle Road caused $300,000 in damages, according to fire officials.

CHARLOTTE, NC — An overnight fire at an apartment complex in east Charlotte was intentionally set and caused at least $300,000 in damages, according to Charlotte Fire officials.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the blaze at 1207 Kelston Place to control the fire, which took them 35 minutes to put out.

The fire is the second case of arson at an Charlotte apartment complex in less than a week. Fire investigators said a March 7 apartment fire that displaced five residents and caused more than $200,000 in damage was also intentionally set.

Fire investigators, however, do not believe at this point that the two arson cases are related, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Monday.
