Charlotte Weather: Chance Of Snow, Ice Later This Week

CHARLOTTE, NC -- It’s going to be a cold week in the Charlotte-metro area, with wintry weather and a chance for snow moving into the region before New Year’s Day.

Temperatures will hover in the 40s this week, with lows dropped to the mid-20s. Thursday, however, the forecast will change drastically, according to a National Weather Service forecast. An arctic air mass moving into the region Thursday means highs in the area will be around 33 degrees, with an overnight low around 23 degrees and a chance of snow.

“Moist southerly flow atop this airmass may lead to the development of a very light wintry mix late Thursday and Thursday night. Very light snow and/or ice accumulations are possible,” the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook Tuesday. Winter weather remains a possibility on Friday, too, however any wintry mix is expected to end early in the morning, forecasters said.

New Year’s Eve will be a night to bundle up. The low is expected to dip to around 23 degrees.
