CMPD’s Midday Seat Belt Operation Leads To 121 Charges

Charlotte police conducted a midday operation near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Sunset Road Tuesday.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police aiming to crack down on drivers not wearing their seat belt issued 121 charges Tuesday in a two-hour operation in North Charlotte.

Officers from the DWI Task Force, along with those from North, South, Providence, Hickory Grove and Steele Creek divisions manned the operation from 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Sunset Road.

Officers made 96 traffic stops. One person was arrested on a warrant and 120 traffic violations were issued, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Of the traffic violations, 83 were for failure to wear a seatbelt.
