Fatal Accident Leads To Road Closure In West Charlotte: CMPD

Drivers should be aware that a police investigation into a fatal accident has shut down Mount Holly Road for Tuesday's evening commute..

CHARLOTTE, NC — A west Charlotte road was shut down to traffic Tuesday afternoon as Charlotte police investigated a fatal wreck.

The accident occurred in the 10500 block of Mount Holly Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

The roadway is expected to be shut down for an unknown amount of time, CMPD said. Drivers are urged to find an alternate route for their evening commute.

“Car managed to swerve off the bridge and fall around 20 feet onto the embankment of Long Creek. One person confirmed dead,” WSOC reported on social media.
