February NoDa Apartment Fire Result Of Lighter Play, Authorities Say
7-year-old girl is still recovering from severe burns on over half her body.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A February 6 apartment fire in NoDa was accidental and the result of a juvenile playing with a lighter, fire investigators now say.
Firefighters returning from another call spotted the early morning fire when they saw smoke and fire coming from a unit in the Twin Oaks Apartments on East 36th Street, WSOCTV reported Tuesday.

Firefighters were able to pull 7-year-old Katlyn Cook out of a rear bedroom in the apartment, and she was later transported to Wake Forest Baptist burn center in Winston-Salem. The second grader had second and third degree burns on more than half her body, her mother told the news station.
